Zoosemobile

"It is like being in a party at Salvador Dali's.", La Presse

"Machine of Joy", Charlie Hill, Curator of the National Gallery, Order of Canada

"It's magic. Wherever it goes, people rave. It has a pageantry, but it is made out of garbage! A grandeur, yet it says you can do whatever you want. It's a large vehicle but it's pulled by a unicycle. It's impossible, but it works. It says life is absurd but full of magnificent possibilities.", Antony Jenkins, Globe and Mail

"Stomp meets Dr. Seuss.", McLean's Magazine

"WILD, WACKY & INVENTIVE: It was a great day for kids when the Families in Motion Parade took to the street, to flaunt their 40 plus decorated bicycles, led by the Subtonic Monks Dr. Seuss-style cycle with platform and drums.", The Toronto Voice

"We'd been looking for something 'Different', if you now what I mean. We had the taste in our mouths but couldn't identify what it was. We already had Beautiful, Unusual, even amazing but we knew there was just something missing... something magical that would just "turn up". And there you were, right out of the blue, right when we needed you. No fuss, no mess and great entertainment!", Arts Foundation of Greater Toronto, Arts Week

Richmond Hill Winter Carnival

2015 Richmond Hill Winter Carnival

2015 Richmond Hill Winter Carnival

February 7th & 8th, 2015 we provided entertainment for the Richmond Hill Winter Carnival. It was nice to see parents, who were kids in the early 90's, enjoy experimenting with sound.

At Nuit Blanche 2014, 30 to 50 people played from 11:00pm to 5:30am non-stop, with such intensity they broke 25 sticks and 6 drum heads. Some played for hours, others for a few minutes, overall there were hundreds of perticipants.

Children identify with the Zoosemobile because the bicycle is their first self propelled vehicle of adventure. It also is a stage on which the younger children thrive off the excitement of the older children; on this stage they are equals.

Twenty years ago parents only got engaged because their children were engaged. Recently the promotion of the bicycle has become an environmental necessity and parents are now encouraging their children to participate.

It is the perfect way to channel testosterone in a positive direction.

It provides a physicality to artistic events.

SOUND & LIGHTS

This summer the Zoosemobile will engage teens with a sound and light system that will help participants get over the embarrassment they feel for their lack of musicality. Lights will flash, in and near the drums, to assist them with the rhythms. Some lights will follow simple beat structures, others will vary in their complexity. Participants can choose which beat pattern best suits them, experiment and improve their musicality with rhythms from cultures around the world.

At night a light show will feed off the sound of the participants.

For young and old we will provide workshops that enable participants to better use the Zoosemobile so as to expand their knowledge of music and dance.

The volume can be adjusted at a moments notice to suit any situation. A portable microphone will enable the Zoosemobile's sound system to mirror the stage and provide organizers a voice in an alternative location.

The Zoosemobiles are an innovative artform that has engaged thousands of participants over 20 years. It was featured in the Tall Ships Festival in Chicago, engaged . Led over a dozen parades of school kids in Bosnia. Was the vehicle that opened the door for Canadian Jewish and Arab musicians to do a joint performance in Israel. With the new light and sound system we will be adding another dimension for participants that will develop with each festival.
